Russell Shaw R.I.P.

Great sadness over the weekend among the VoIP community as news of Russell Shaw’s sudden death spread. Shaw was ZD Net’s resident IP and Blackberry blogger and according to Gigaom died in his sleep in his hotel room in San Jose Thursday evening where he was covering the eComm conference.

Shaw was widely liked and respected among the VoIP commentators. He bought an independent eye, humor and real insight based on years of experience in the technology area. His realism in an area where evangelism often distorts judgment was his hallmark and he will greatly missed.
