We’re looking to buy our first PBX. Any recommendations on must have features for a PBX?

Yes, there are a number of generally accepted features that you should look for in any PBX. As an aside, we generally recommend an IP PBX, as opposed to a traditional PBX, but either way, here are the features to look for:

  • Call hold
  • Music on hold
  • Call forwarding
  • Unattended transfer
  • Attended transfer
  • No answer call forwarding
  • Busy call forwarding
  • Direct transfer to voicemail
  • Bridged appearance
  • Three way calling
  • Incoming call screening
  • Find-me service
  • Call pickup
  • Call parking
  • Outgoing call screening
  • Automatic redial

With these features, you’ll be well on your way to having enterprise class telephony service.
